AM I STILL ABLE TO RECEIVE THERAPY DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS?

  • YES, you can still participate in therapy even during this COVID-19 crisis.
  • Effective March 23, 2020, I will be transitioning my Practice to interactive audio and video communications called ‘Telehealth’ temporarily.
  • NEW CLIENTS: Please contact Dr. Mavis to set up a first appointment.
  • EXISTING CLIENTS: You will be contacted to confirm your telehealth appointment.  Additionally, a telehealth consent form will be sent to you for review, and sign.  In preparation for your session, please read below on how to set up your smartphone or laptop for telehealth.

HOW DOES TELEHEALTH WORK?

I use Zoom, a HIPAA compliance system based on the HIPAA Security Rule published in the Federal Register on February 20, 2003 (45 CFR Parts 160, 162, and 164 Health Insurance Reform: Security Standards; Final Rule).  Additionally, Zoom does not have access to identifiable health information and their system protect and encrypt all audio, video, and screen sharing data. Though this method of conducting mental health services is not the same as meeting in person, many users report being able to receive the same-level of patient-care.
